Work Day :: Play Day

Today was a Work Day at New Covenant. Or as Linda Hochstedler likes to say, Play Day! We had a great turn out of people and wonderful weather. And a ton of stuff got done! It's amazing how much fun work can be when you have a clear goal and a great team! A huge "Thank You" to all who helped cultivate and create beauty today!

Geyer's Oven

We enjoyed our evening at Geyer's Oven. Dave and Anna Geyer have own a farm near Oxford, Iowa. Two nights a month they make pizza in their stone wood-fired oven for all who show up at the farm! A $10 donation gets you all the pizza you can eat! Anna also has a beautiful flower garden. It was a wonderful evening with good food, great weather, fun conversation and beautiful scenery. Enjoy!

Natural Beauty

I enjoyed going to Noelridge Park late this afternoon and getting some macro shots. What a beautiful world we live in! I'm thankful that I can capture and share a small piece of it. Enjoy!

Sanctuary

I spent some time at Weir and Mary's "bird sanctuary" this morning. What an awesome place. I enjoyed the peace and solitude along with the beauty of nature. And yes, there were birds too - Chickadee, White Breasted Nut Hatch, House Finch, Hummingbird, Downy Woodpecker and Hairy Woodpecker. Enjoy!

Grand Design

I have enjoyed experimenting with my new 105mm macro lens. It's an older lens but still does a great job! Close up photography reveals the hidden beauty and intricate design of creation. We are surrounded by incredible beauty all around us. He who has eyes, let him or her see. Enjoy!

Beauty Redefined

I'm a sucker for old rusty stuff. I think it's beautiful. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I stopped and photographed this 1949 Ford panel truck outside of Fairfax on Saturday. The owner, Barbara Conner, was nearby so I struck up a conversation. I commented on the beauty of the truck and asked a few questions. I learned that the city of Fairfax tried to get Barbara, the owner of Simply Iowa antiques, to remove it from her store property as they considered it an abandoned vehicle and an eyesore! You decide - junk or beauty! Enjoy!

Morning Flowers

I enjoyed getting out on Saturday and this morning to shoot some flowers. The beauty and incredible design of creation never ceases to amaze me. Enjoy!

WWII Warbirds

I enjoyed getting to see FiFi, the only B-29 in the world that is still being flown. I also enjoyed the P-51 Mustang and the F4U Corsair. These planes are beautiful examples of incredible engineering and elegant design.

The B-29/B-24 Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force was created in the 1970s to support FiFi.  The CAF B-29/B-24 Squadron is based at Addison Airport in the Dallas–Fort Worth area with the Cavanaugh Flight Museum.

Enjoy the images!

Rusty Beauty

I love photographing things that are old and have character. The rustier the better! I found this beauty the other evening. Enjoy!
